Learn An
Irish Song
This Page Is Dedicated
To All The Great Songwriters Whose Works Are On This Page - Some Living, Some
Dead
(These are songs you may
well hear sung in an Irish pub. Some are not Irish by birth but Irish by
adoption. They all could possibly be classified as folk
songs or traditional songs. I have invited a number of my friends to sing some
of them.)
The 1st column in
green contains the sung (vocal) MP3 version for the purposes of learning the
correct version of the song.
Where there are 2 versions
of the song (F) will be a female vocalist and (M) will be a male vocalist
These songs may be a variation of
what you have heard but should be close to what is sung in Irish pubs.
The 2nd column contains a
midifile version of the song as used in the song itself and can be used to sing
along with.
The midifile may not be in
the same key as the song in the green column but can be altered.
If you download Van Basco's
Karaoke (free) you can alter the pitch (Key) and the tempo (Speed) of the song
to your own specifications
The 3rd column contains a
lyrics/chords sheet as used with the song. The chords and/or the words on the
document may not exactly match the key of the song in the green column so use
your own discretion. Altering the chords and the use of capos may be required while
accompanying the song to facilitate key and pitch.
The comments column may
contain extra information.
(Please allow for
differences in the way you may have heard the songs sung previously. There are
many reasons why singers perform the same song differently. Also, you may have to
transpose the midi file or alter the tempo and change the key/chords on the lyrics sheet to suit your
voice and/or pitch. The lyrics page may also differ from the sung lyrics)
PLEASE
DO SOURCE THE ORIGINAL SONGS BY THE SONGWRITERS AND/OR THE SINGERS
Any
information on the singers performing these songs on this website may be had on
request at the email address below
